The Olympus track team is putting in work this winter in preparation for our spring season which begins officially on Monday, March 2nd at 2:30PM.
Below please read highlights from the BYU Indoor Invite and the UHSTCA Invite. Athletes will compete at the Weber State Invitational this weekend, the Utah Distance Challenge on 2/7, and – most importantly- the Simplot Games on 2/13 – 2/15. If you are interested in attending the Simplot Games, please attend the parent/athlete meeting this Tuesday 1/28 at 6PM in the OHS lecture hall.
If you are interested in joining our winter workouts, Coach Alexanderson leads strength and conditioning Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 6:15 AM – 7:15 AM in the OHS weight room AND event specific workouts on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 2:30 PM – 4:30 PM at the OHS indoor track. 3200m – Seniors Kate Thomas (12:03) and Emma Barnett (12:30) finish top 10 at their season opener.
1600m – Senior Skyler Spence leads our boys in 4:46 followed by a strong opening performance by sophomore Will Spence 4:49.
High Jump – 2019 state podium finisher Emma Maxfield clears 4-10.25 in her first competition
1/24-1/25 UHSTCA INDOOR INVITATIONAL
1600m – 2019 state podium finisher, Oly senior Jackson Dymond (4:29) finishes 5th in a strong field. Kate Thomas (5:29) races well and crosses the line 2nd in her heat. Junior Kage Hoon (4:45) runs well. Sophomore Vaughn Wallace (5:14) sets a PR and bests last week’s result by an impressive 5 seconds.
3200m – Skyler Spence (9:55) finishes 9th overall with a personal best after racing 800m in 2:09 earlier that day.
60m hurdles– Freshman Oteta Kitiona (10.92), competing for Mercury Track Club, is the 2nd freshman finisher and 24th overall.
Long Jump – Senior Alex Delaney (21-05.5), competing for Mercury Track Club, wins the long jump!
