Boys Varsity Soccer · Soccer earns victory over Skyline in OT (2-1)

On Friday, May 3rd Olympus defeated Skyline 2-1 in overtime.  About 5 minutes into the match, Hayden Earl got the team off to a great start when he battled the defense and was able to cross the ball to Adam Naylor who scored to put Olympus up 1-0.  Olympus dominated ball possession but didn’t get another goal in the first half.  In the second half, Skyline tied up the game when they were awarded a PK for a foul in the box. 1-1.  Neither team scored for the rest of regulation time.  (Overtime consists of two 10 minute halves, but it is also a “Golden Goal” situation.  This means that if either team scores during either OT period, the game is over. In region play, if neither team scores during the two overtime periods, the game ends in a draw)   In the first OT period, the Titans got their GOLDEN GOAL when they were awarded an indirect kick.  Adam Naylor took the kick and Ervin Huremovic executed a beautiful diving header to get the Titans the win.  Their next game is on Tuesday, May 7th versus West, at home.  It is Senior Night, so the varsity team will be playing at 7:00 pm. (JV will play at 5:30 pm) Come and support these hardworking boys!

***Since Olympus has already clinched the Region 6 title, we know they will be playing their first playoff game at home on Tuesday, May 14th at 4:00 pm.  Their opponent is undetermined but it will be the 4th seed from Region 8.

WAY TO GO OLY!
