The wrestling team has had a great season and they capped off their regular season with an emphatic win over Highland 50-27 in the final region dual of the season to win the Region VI title with an undefeated record(5-0) in Region competition! The dual started off with quick pins of just 53 seconds by Stan Butera and then 54 seconds by Isaac Wilcox. Emerson Conlon returned to lineup after rough bout with pneumonia to pin his opponent just 3 seconds before the end of second period. “Big Z” (Zack Reynolds) held off a throw attempt by his opponent in the first period to score a takedown and then pinned his opponent in the second period. Freshmen Ashton Haaga and Isaac Wirthlin had impressive wins with Ashton winning 12-1 and Isaac getting the pin just 5 seconds before the end of the second period. Jacob DeGraw went to work to secure a second round pin and Jacob Giauque got the pin against his opponent in the third period. Owen Hall did not have to come from behind to win this year against his opponent and finished off the night with a 8-0 victory. Over all the Titans won 9 out of the 14 matches and only allowed the Rams to get 2 pins compared to the 7 pins by the Titans. The Titan wrestlers are looking to finish off their 2019 season with another strong performance at the 5A Divisionals on February 1 & 2 and then the 5A State tournament on February 13-14. The top two wrestlers from Olympus at each weight will be allowed to enter the Divisional tournament and then the top 8 wrestlers from each weight class will qualify for the State tournament.
